Custom Mobile Pet Grooming Trucks and Trailers
Built in Woodland Park, Colorado. Delivered across the western United States. The same shop and the same build standards behind 300+ food truck deliveries, applied to mobile pet grooming rigs that hold up to thousands of services.
If you are a groomer ready to take your business mobile, or a salon owner adding a mobile arm to your operation, we build the truck or trailer. Six to eight weeks from signed contract to keys in hand. Starting at $75,000.
What we build
Zion Pet Mobiles are custom mobile grooming rigs designed around your service capacity, breed mix, and route plan. Every build includes the equipment and infrastructure you need to do quality grooming on the road from day one.
The standard pet mobile build includes:
- Hydraulic-lift stainless steel grooming tub. 24″ or 30″ wide, foot-pedal lift, no-shoulder sides for working with large breeds. Drains through a hair trap to grey water.
- Hydraulic grooming table. 30″ x 48″ with sealed laminate top, foot-pedal height adjustment, side hooks for restraint loops.
- High-velocity pet dryer. 2-3 HP variable speed, mounted, with reinforced hose. K-9 II or equivalent.
- Tankless gas water heater. 5-6 GPM continuous hot water output. Recovery time under 30 seconds. Critical for back-to-back appointments.
- Fresh and grey water tanks. 50 gallons fresh, 75 gallons grey. Sized for 6 to 8 dog services between fills.
- Generator. 7-10 kW Cummins Onan or equivalent. Sized for the dryer, A/C, water heater, and lighting running together.
- Climate control. Two rooftop A/C units (13.5K BTU each) plus heat. Pets and groomers are comfortable in 100F summer or 10F winter.
- Aluminum diamond plate floor. Sealed seams, integrated drain. Hoses out for end-of-day cleaning.
- Stainless prep counters and storage. Cabinets for shampoos, conditioners, brushes, scissors, clippers, towels.
- Hair containment system. Vacuum-mounted hair trap on the tub drain plus a HEPA-filtered shop vac for table cleanup.
- LED interior lighting. Color-temperature matched for accurate coat color when working show breeds.
- Custom vinyl wrap. Your branding, your colors. Cast vinyl with laminate, rated 5-7 years.
Optional upgrades
- Larger 60-gallon fresh / 90-gallon grey tank package (extends route between fills)
- Dual-tub setup for tandem grooming with a helper
- Recirculating shampoo system (cuts product cost 30-40%)
- Roof solar panel (offsets generator runtime when parked)
- Customer-facing service window for treats, branding, walk-up bookings
- Climate-controlled holding cage area for waiting pets
- Insulated wall package for year-round operating in cold climates
Who it is for
We have built or quoted mobile pet grooming rigs for five customer profiles. The build adjusts for the use case.
Solo groomer leaving a salon. Most common. You are doing 4-6 dogs a day at a brick-and-mortar and want to keep your client list while owning your schedule and your overhead. A standard 16-18ft cutaway truck on a Ford E-450 chassis is the right size. Around $75,000-$95,000 depending on equipment.
Multi-truck operator scaling. You already have one truck and want to add a second, third, or fourth to expand into a new neighborhood. We can spec the new build to match your existing one for fleet consistency. Most fleet operators come back for repeat builds.
Salon owner adding mobile. You have a stationary salon and want to capture customers who do not want to travel. Mobile is a complement to your salon, not a replacement. We can build for split utilization, where the truck operates morning routes and parks at the salon for afternoon spillover.
Vet practice expanding services. Some progressive veterinary practices add mobile grooming as an attached service to their existing client base. The build is similar to a solo groomer rig but with light branding tying it to the practice.
Mobile bath service operator. Bath-only service with no scissor cuts, focused on quick volume and route density. The build can be smaller (14ft trailer or van conversion) and lighter on equipment, with focus on water capacity and dryer power. Around $55,000-$75,000.
How long it takes
Six to eight weeks from signed contract to keys in hand for a standard build. Eight to twelve weeks for fully custom or oversized builds. Same timeline as our food truck builds. We have been hitting these timelines for years and the same shop, the same crew, and the same suppliers cover both verticals.
What it costs
| Build profile | Typical specs | Cost range |
|---|---|---|
| Bath-only mobile | 14ft trailer or van, single tub, 7 kW generator, basic equipment | $55,000-$75,000 |
| Standard mobile grooming | 16-18ft Ford E-450 cutaway, full kitchen, 10 kW generator, 50/75 gal tanks | $75,000-$95,000 |
| Premium mobile grooming | 20-22ft, dual tub, full stainless, 12 kW Onan, 60/90 gal tanks, premium climate | $95,000-$130,000 |
| Vet practice / specialty | Custom layout to your practice, branded wrap, integrated record-keeping station | $95,000-$140,000 |

Where we deliver
Same service area as our food truck builds. We deliver to operators across:
- Colorado (home market, 30-minute to 4-hour drive from our shop)
- Wyoming, Montana
- Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada
- Nebraska, Kansas (we are seeing growing pet grooming demand)
- California (compliant with the strictest mobile commercial codes in the country)
Door-to-door delivery is standard. Cross-country delivery (East Coast or Pacific Northwest) is available for an additional $1,500-$4,500 depending on distance.
Why us, not a pet-mobile-specialist builder
Three things separate Zion Pet Mobiles from the larger specialist mobile grooming builders.
1. Build quality from 300+ commercial mobile builds. Every food truck and pet mobile shares the same hard infrastructure: water tanks, propane or gas systems, generators, hood and ventilation, suppression where required, electrical panels, structural fabrication. We have built this 300+ times. The pet-grooming-specific equipment (tub, table, dryer) is layered on top of a chassis we know cold.
2. Custom layout, not slide-in templates. Some larger builders use a pre-engineered kit that gets dropped into a stock chassis. That is fast and cheap, but it does not flex to your specific route, your breed mix, or your branding. We build the layout around your service plan, not the other way around.
3. We are local enough to actually support you. If your truck has an issue at month 6, we can have a tech on the phone or in person. The big specialist builders out of Tennessee, Texas, or Florida cannot do that for an operator in Denver, Phoenix, or Salt Lake City. The closer we are, the faster we are when something needs attention.

The build process
The same process as our food truck builds. Refined over 300+ deliveries.

Weeks 1-2: Equipment sourcing, chassis prep, structural and insulation work.
Weeks 3-4: Plumbing, water tanks, generator install, electrical wiring.
Weeks 5-6: Equipment installed and commissioned. Tub, table, dryer, climate control all wired and tested.
Weeks 7-8: Wrap installation, final detail, pre-delivery inspection, customer walkthrough at our shop, delivery.
Permits and licensing for mobile grooming
Mobile pet grooming is regulated less heavily than mobile food. Most jurisdictions require:
- State business license (LLC or sole proprietorship)
- Local business license / mobile business permit
- Sales tax / seller’s permit (state)
- Pet care or grooming license (varies by state — some require, some don’t)
- Water and waste handling per local code
- Sometimes vehicle commercial registration depending on weight
We provide a complete documentation packet with every build, including water and electrical specs, to ease your permit application. See our regulations hub for state-specific notes (food truck-focused but the structural and water rules largely apply).
