Food Trailer Builder

Custom Food Trailer Builder

Food trailers solve a problem food trucks can’t: you can drop one off at a festival or brewery and leave. You don’t need to drive, fuel, or register them the same way. And for a lot of menus, a well-built trailer is cheaper, easier to park, and easier to insure than a full truck.

Zion Foodtrucks builds custom food trailers from 12 ft to 32 ft, plus specialty conversions like Airstream builds and shipping container restaurants. Same build quality as our food trucks, same commercial-grade equipment, same 6-8 week turnaround.

Food Trailer vs. Food Truck — Which Is Right for You?

  • Choose a food trailer if: you operate at fixed locations (breweries, farmers markets, festivals), you already own a tow vehicle, you want to maximize kitchen space for budget, or you want the flexibility to leave the trailer on-site overnight.
  • Choose a food truck if: you move multiple times per day, you do mobile catering at offices/corporate events, parking regulations in your city favor trucks over trailers, or you don’t have a suitable tow vehicle.

Many operators eventually own both. We build both.

Types of Food Trailers We Build

Concession Trailers

Classic festival-style trailers with a large service window, interior prep and cook line, and enough storage to run a full day. Sizes 12-24 ft.

Catering Trailers

Built for off-site catering and events. More refrigeration, warming stations, and buffet-style service. Often includes a generator and awning.

BBQ / Smoker Trailers

Integrated smoker (offset, reverse-flow, or cabinet), prep area, walk-in cooler, and service window. Handles everything from roadside BBQ to wedding catering.

Pizza Trailers

Wood-fired or gas-fired pizza oven, prep table, cold toppings station, and service window. Heavy-duty structural rating to support the oven weight.

Airstream Conversions

We convert Airstream and similar vintage trailers into commercial food trailers. The aesthetic drives foot traffic; the commercial kitchen inside does the revenue.

Coffee & Beverage Trailers

Espresso machines, grinders, refrigerated syrup/milk storage, ice wells. Compact 12-16 ft footprint.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a CDL to tow a food trailer?

In most states, trailers under 10,000 lbs GVWR can be towed with a standard driver’s license. Heavier trailers may require a specific endorsement. We help you size the trailer to keep you under commercial-license thresholds when possible.

What tow vehicle do I need?

Depends on the loaded trailer weight. Most of our 16-20 ft trailers load out at 5,000-8,000 lbs — a 3/4-ton pickup or larger SUV handles them easily. Larger trailers need a 1-ton.

Can you build a trailer that matches my existing truck’s brand?

Yes. We match paint colors, wraps, and branding to your existing mobile kitchen or restaurant brand.
