About Zion Foodtrucks

Zion Foodtrucks is a custom food truck and food trailer builder based in Woodland Park, Colorado. We have built over 1,000 food trucks, food trailers, bus conversions and van conversions, and we ship anywhere in the country. Most of our customers are first time owners, so a big part of the job is explaining what their truck needs before anything gets built.

Who runs Zion

Zion is owned and run by Jacob Varghese, a mechanical engineer by training. Jacob handles sales, design and customer communication himself, so the person you talk to on the first call is the same person who signs off your layout and answers the phone when your health inspector has a question. The same team also builds for our sister brand, Mile High Foodtrucks, in Denver.

What we build

We source the truck or trailer for you, so you do not need to find a vehicle before you call.

How a build works

  1. A conversation about your menu. What you cook decides the equipment, and the equipment decides the size, the power and the hood. We start there, not with a floor plan.
  2. See your truck in CAD first. You get a drawing of your layout before anything is cut or welded, and you can change it until it works for the way you cook.
  3. A written quote and spec sheet. Every line item is on paper. Lenders and health departments both ask for this.
  4. Plan review paperwork. We provide the build documentation, plumbing schematics and equipment specs your health department needs.
  5. The build. A typical build takes about six weeks in the shop, and eight to twelve weeks from design approval to delivery.
  6. Walkthrough and delivery. We walk you through the finished truck so you know where every valve, breaker and switch is. Many of those walkthroughs are on our YouTube channel.

Built for real weather and real inspections

Most of our trucks go to the Mountain West, where a truck has to work through a hard winter and a hot summer. If your truck is going somewhere cold, we can build the walls heavier, with 1.5 inch insulation and 9/16 inch plywood instead of the usual 1 inch and 1/2 inch, and add blankets on the water tanks. Just ask.

We also write about the rules, because a truck that does not pass inspection cannot open. Our state guides cover permits, plan review, fire inspection and taxes, starting with Colorado, Arizona, Texas and permit costs by state.

Our warranty

Every new build comes with a one year warranty.
